Hello there,

Just one Query for all the LARPers LRPS reenactment people.

Horsemen Events would like to hear what you would like to see at Gen Con UK 2007 for such activities, also if you have contact information for any one you think has not been to Gen Con UK before and you believe they would make an excellent potential choice - please let us know. Email us their contact details (liveaction@genconuk.com) so that we can follow up and you never know they may say yes...

What this forum for more updates on Gen Con UK 2007, thank you for reading.

Any News on what LARPs will be at GenConUK this year? I see that other event schedules are now slowly starting to crawl their way onto the site, but LARP info is still absent!

Will he Vampire Moon people be there this year? They've been there every year I've been but they aren't on the schedule this time?
I played their Orient Express and End of the World games at Minehead a few years ago and they're probably the best two things I've played at GCUK.

Thanks for the compliment. We apprecaite the people that have attended all our games over the years. Your are what make our games special.

Anyway in answer to your question Millenuim Moon Will not be running anything at this years Gencon. My Partner in crime Dave has tried and tried to get Horsemen to sort something out. But to no avail. For an example We asked that advertising for GC 2007 be in place and runnning by May. I have'nt seen anything as yet and considering its the start of July its very late.

I have heard a runour that another Organisation will be running White wolf stuff there. Now we know these people and no doubt they will run a good game, but they are nothing to do with MM.

I don't want that to put you off if you do attend. Go and enjoy yourself. Its just a shame that after a relationship lasting ten years. We have been let down at the last hurdle by something so simple as advertising. Anyway depending on what happens at GC07 we may be there for GC08. But we will see.

Some of us may come down for the Saturday, not sure though.

Regards
Tracey

My apologies if there was some communication problem.

We have always fully supported LARPs and are happy to have any LARPs, especially Millenium Moon (whose events have been so successful in the past).

We have a range of rooms of varying sizes all reserved for LARPs and would be happy to provide any LARP organiser with suitable facilities. For example, we have a lounge, a library, a Victorian "house", a cafe with bar, and more.

Just a point on advertising - Gen Con UK has been advertised for more than a year, with adverts in magazines, web sites, event lists, posters & postcards in shops around the UK and lots more. However if there is anywhere we have missed, please let us know and we'll cost it out.

So if anyone does want to run a LARP, we will give you 100% support. And remember - it costs you nothing to run a LARP at Gen Con UK - and we even provide rewards for the organisers, eg Free Entrance to Gen Con UK and Free accommodation for the organisers. The more LARPs you run, and the more people they support, the more rewards you get.

So that'll be a complete U-turn on the part of Gen Con then?

Sorry if that sounds like I'm bitter, but that's because I am. Gen Con gave us a chance to introduce new people into the hobby, and we welcomed that. After all that we have have to put up with in the past trying to run games I'm not prepared to go through that again, particular since from my POV we were tolerated rather than encouraged.

I hope everyone has a lovely time at Gen Con, I hope it's successful. I won't be running anything there this year, and it would take a lot of persuasion to make me think that Gen Con wants us there, and is prepared to put effort into having us there.

Hi

No U-turn at all. We always used to 100% support LARPs and we still 100% support LARPs.

With the widest range of facilites for LARPs ever at a Gen Con UK, free entrance, free accommodation and even free breakfast for the organisers, and the same package as last year in terms of money back to the organisers for props and other expenses (paid immediately, in cash), we are supporting LARPs more than ever this year.

Well, we do indeed want as many LARPs as possible. Just let us know what you want and we'll do everything we can to make it happen.

I have exchanged some email with Ratty having given him a detailed list of things I (and in some cases other LARP people) have been unhappy about in some cases for a very long time.

I thought it only fair to bitch to his face as it were.

I have received a very positive email back from him, which addressed a lot of my concerns.

I still won't be going to Gen Con this year as I will be several thousand miles away, but let's say the door is now ajar for 2008, rather than firmly shut.

I have emailed his comments to a number of other people as well, and if other people would like to see them send me a PM or email.

Its nice to see the positive discussion about LARPs however, and forgive me if I am wrong, but at the moment there does not appear to be any LARP at Gen Con 2007. Is that correct? If not can someone please say what will be running?

Thanks

Tony

Hi

There are some LARPs being organised, but none have yet been finalised.

Meanwhile there is still lots of great facilities for more LARPs, from common rooms, to Libraries, to a "Victorian House".

So, if anyone wants to run a LARP, just let us know and we are 100% behind you!
